Cornelia Cocreates BV combines design practices and co-creative (research) processes with entrepreneurship and societal service in Europe, Northern Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Doing so, it is continuously is exploring the margins of its own disciplinary protocols in which it is not the world of architecture, but the architecture of the world that stays central.

Owner Sofia Saavedra Bruno Ph.D., MArch, M.Civil Eng-Arch has gained 25 years of experience as an urban designer and complex project manager at de Architekten Cie, One Architecture, Bouwfonds Mab, her own practice CASArchitects and more recently ORG Permanent Modernity. Mahler4, Zuidas and Oosterdokseiland (Amsterdam), Sky Ouest(Paris), WimbY and Le Medi (Rotterdam), Kop van Scharloo (Willemstad), and more recently Fab Lab 181 (Antwerp) and the Baradawil Sinai Restoration Initiative (Egypt) are some of the projects with intricate technical, financial and stakeholder challenges which she brought to design synthesis through unique process skills.

In parallel, she teaches and engages in transdisciplinary action research as a Post Doc Researcher at KU Leuven and a founding member of the international architects collective Supersudaca. She co-curated Al Caribe (2005), Gebermte (2019), Kana Nos Kosta (2012—2016), co-coordinated the innovation project Cities Thinking like a Forest for the Flemish Government and collaborated with professional documentary-maker Andrès Lübbert to produce the documentary A Thin Green Line that has been selected for the Istanbul International Architecture and Urban Films Festival.

She also took societal and entrepreneurial roles in architecture at the sounding board of STROOM in The Hague (2003—2005) and initiated and chaired Docomomo Curaçao (2008—2016).

Saavedra obtained a Ph.D. from KU Leuven in 2021. She previously obtained a Master’s degree in Architecture from the Berlage Institute in 1997 and a Master’s degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of Gent in 1995. She attended NEPROM real estate courses in the Netherlands between 2003 and 2005 and is a mediator and process manager for Solv.world.
